President Rodrigo Duterte flew all the way from Davao City to Jolo, Sulu Monday, October 31, and pins the Wounded Personnel Medal on Army Corporal Arjay D Turingan (INF).
Turingan was among the 8 soldiers who were honored by the Commander-in-Chief following separate armed engagements between the military and the bandit Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) Sunday, October 30.
Eight members of the ASG were killed and scores others wounded in those clashes by units under the leadership of BGen Arnel de la Vega, the Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu.
Joining the President is AFP Chief of Staff General Ricardo Visaya who has visited Sulu the sixth time since his installation in July 1. Showing their support to the injured soldiers are Army Chief LTGEN Eduardo Año, Chief Surgeon AFP BGEN Mar Mejia, and other members of the Joint and Personal Staff who flew in from General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo.
