Overseas Filipino workers returning to their jobs or same employers abroad are exempted from paying travel tax, securing overseas employment certificate (OEC) and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) processing fee.
According to POEA, Balik Manggagawa (BM) group has long been asking to enhance the processing of their OECs or exit clearance.
POEA said the new policy is in accordance with the government’s newly approved memorandum circular to streamline the processing of OFWs’ documents.
They added, that workers who would be going back to the same employers could register online to update their personal and employment data.
Data submitted to the POEA would be forwarded to the Bureau of Immigration for validation process.
The BM members would have to present valid work visa or employment contract so they could be exempted from paying terminal expense and travel charge.
