President Rodrigo Duterte's first public service announcements on the dangers of illegal drug use will be shown for free by SM Cinema and media giant television network ABS-CBN Corporation, Palace said Sunday.

Andanar clarified four of the anti-drug ads are 30-seconds long while another two lasts for two and half minutes.

SM Cinemas has committed to show the longer ads in its 300 theaters nationwide while ABS-CBN have committed to air the 30-seconds ads for free, Andanar said.

Andanar said the PSAs were produced by award-winning director Brillante Mendoza, who previously supervised the cinematography of Duterte's first State of the Nation Address (SONA).

He also said Mendoza rendered his services for the ad, pro bono.

"Alam po natin na kapag nagpapagawa ng isang 30-seconder 'yung mga malalaking ahensya ay umaabot po ang gastos ng halos apat na milyon ang isang 30-seconder. Napaka-mahal niyan," he said.

(We know that big agencies spend about P4 milyon for a 30-secoder ad. That's too expensive. )

"Pero, ang magandang balita ay ni singkong duling ay hindi po tayo siningil ni direktor Brillante Mendoza sa apat na 30-seconder na kanyang ginawa at ito po ay world-class."

(But the good news is Brillante Mendoza did not charge even a single cent for his four world-class, 30-seconder ads.)

Andanar has yet to negotiate with other giant television networks GMA-7 and TV-5 regarding the PSAs, but he is confident that they will also support the said ads.
