President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday called out in his speech a senator linked to illegal drug trade, stating that she funded the construction of her driver's house with money collected from drug.
Speaking during the 115th police service anniversary at Camp Crame, Duterte chastises the female senator, whom he did not name at any point, for questioning about his fight against illegal drugs.
The president dropped a heavy and obvious hints referring to a woman, claiming her of having an affair with a "driver and lover" who allegely collected money during the election campaign.
“Here’s a senator complaining. One day I will tell you that her driver himself, who was a lover, was the one collecting money for her during the campaign,” said Duterte.
“An immoral woman, insofar as the driver’s wife is concerned, it’s adultery,” he continued.
"Here is a woman who funded the house of her lover, and yet we do not say anything about it?,” the President added.
The President later clarified that he was not saying that the driver was giving money to the senator but still pressed on.
“But in fairness, I would never say [clearly] that the driver gave (the money) to her but by the looks of it, she has it,” he said.
Duterte added that the senator has no right to complain about the recent killings of drug suspects in the country when she herself has “a very sordid personal and official life.”
Last week, Duterte said that he was going to “destroy” a female official who keeps on complaining his government.
