At least six members of the Abu Sayaff group were killed, while 14 Army troops were wounded in the clash in Sitio Makaita, Barangay Bunkaong in Patikul, Sulu on Friday.
According to Maj. Filemon Tan, spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command of the Philippine Army, soldiers continued the pursuit of the bandits that they encountered.
Tan said, personnel of the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion are in combat operation when they encounter with the up to 100 bandits in Sitio Makaita village Bunkaong at 6:12 am today.
Bandits withdrew after 45 minutes.
According to Tan, the six Abu Sayyaf were determine killed and injured in the clash.
On the government side, 14 soldiers were wounded, he said.
